Jan 09, 2017 Probably the best method is to insert (not draw!) a table on each page where you want to arrange your tables. For example, if you want two tables side by side, create a two-column-by-one-row table. Make sure that for each table, in the Table Properties dialog, the text wrapping is set to None instead of Around. I am designing a form in MS Word 2003. I'm trying to place two tables next to each other, and having no luck at all. I've tried copying/pasting, moving and so on, but get awful-looking results. I'd love to be able to place tables next to each other, so that the form doesn't have so darn much empty space.

If you need to split a table into two or more tables vertically, please apply the following steps:
1. Firstly, please put cursor below the target table and press Enter to get at least two paragraph marks. See screenshot:
2. Then select the whole columns that you want to split as a new table, and drag it to the second paragraph mark, the original table has been split to two tables as following screenshot shown:
3. Next, you should click the plus sign on the upper-left of second table to select it. And then, drag and place it on the right side of the first table. See screenshot:
4. Now, you can see, the original table has been split into two tables vertically, you can repeat the above steps to split it into more tables as you need.

If you need two tables to be placed side by side in your document you can do so by placing each of them inside a text box and then arranging the text boxes side by side.
To do this, create a text box by selecting the Insert tab on the Ribbon, click Text Box and click Draw Text Box. Click and drag to create a text box and then click inside it and create a table by choosing Insert > Table. Repeat the process to create the second table in its text box then drag to position the text boxes side by side.
